Job Description

Role Overview

The Manager – Statutory Approvals will lead and manage the end-to-end approval process for Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), Environmental Clearances, and Forest Clearances across all active PSP projects. This role is responsible for proactive liaison with regulatory bodies, timely submission of regulatory documentation, and ensuring all statutory approvals are secured within project timelines across State and Central government levels.

Experience : 10 to 14 Years

Key Sector Exposure – Hydro & Pumped Storage

  • Regulatory submissions and approval management for hydropower and Pumped Storage Projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CEA, CWC, GSI, CSMRS, MoP, MoEF&CC, and MoWR approval processes.
  • Pre-discussions and interface management with statutory bodies for DPR appraisal and clearances.
  • Forest Clearance (Stage I & II), Environmental Clearance, and allied regulatory frameworks.
  • Monitoring and tracking of approval milestones across multiple projects and states.
  • Government relations and stakeholder management with regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the submission of all statutory documentation for DPR approvals, Environmental Clearances, and Forest Clearances.
  • Conduct pre-discussions with regulatory bodies to understand formats, documentation requirements, and initiate appraisal of submissions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather and assess necessary data, including arranging technical discussions with statutory bodies as required.
  • Follow up at desk level in all statutory offices to mitigate inter-office and coordination-related time gaps.
  • Monitor and track stages of regulatory approval that impact project timelines; proactively inform stakeholders of relevant updates.
  • Resolve issues that arise during the approval process and ensure timely submission of corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all regulatory filings and correspondence with regulatory authorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and regulatory agencies at both State and Central levels.
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities and ensure timely resolution of any additional information requests.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory officials and associated offices.
  • Develop and execute tailored approval strategies for each project considering State and Central-level requirements.

Stakeholder & Consultant Management

  • Act as the single point of accountability for all regulatory compliance within project timelines.
  • Liaise with consultants handling EIA/EMP, CSMRS drilling, GSI studies, and other regulatory studies.
  • Educate and guide internal teams regarding regulatory requirements, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Land, and Environment teams to align documentation and submission requirements.
