Job Description

 

Role Overview

The Senior CAD Designer will execute detailed CAD drafting and design work for PSP/Hydropower infrastructure including dams, tunnels, powerhouses, penstocks, and reservoir structures. The incumbent will collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to prepare, review, and maintain high-quality technical drawings and construction documentation that form critical deliverables for DPRs and site execution.

Key Sector Exposure – Hydro & Pumped Storage

  • Preparation of hydro project layouts and detailed technical drawings for dams, turbines, penstocks, reservoirs, and powerhouses.
  • Understanding of clearances, basic design concepts, concrete zoning, and structural details for PSP infrastructure.
  • Review of conceptual designs for accuracy and evaluation of technical drawings submitted by consultants.
  • Preparation and maintenance of as-built drawings and drawing revision registers.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or equivalent industry-standard CAD software.
  • Collaboration with civil, geotechnical, and E&M engineers for multi-discipline drawing integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create hydro project layouts and detailed technical drawings for PSP infrastructure including dams, tunnels, powerhouses, surge shafts, penstocks, and reservoirs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to review conceptual design accuracy and ensure clarity of technical drawings submitted by consultants.
  • Review and prepare layouts, sections, and detail drawings for various hydropower systems and structures.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, IS codes, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of all drawings, designs, and revisions with version control.
  • Update drawings based on feedback from engineers and project managers in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for creation of as-built drawings and ensure final documents are accurate and complete.
  • Conduct regular checks to identify and correct discrepancies or errors in design drawings.
  • Prepare presentation drawings for DPR submissions, regulatory approvals, and client reviews.
  • Mentor junior drafters and CAD technicians within the engineering team.
