Job Description
Position: Assistant Manager - Substation Automation System
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics & Communication Engineering
Experience: 4 to 8 years of experience in SCADA, Substation Automation or Grid Communication Systems
Location: Gurgaon, Haryana
Role Overview
Responsible for managing and optimizing Substation SCADA, PPC systems and communication networks across transmission and pooling substations. The role involves ensuring reliable data acquisition, seamless system integration, regulatory compliance, and high availability of grid communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end Substation SCADA operations across multiple substations and ensure high system availability
- Manage Power Plant Controller (PPC) and SCADA communication infrastructure for real-time grid operations
- Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for SCADA, SAS and telemetry-related issues impacting grid performance
- Configure, integrate, and monitor RTUs, IEDs, gateways and IEC 61850-based systems
- Ensure seamless communication using industry protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 104, OPC, etc
- Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, SLDCs/RLDCs and internal teams for telemetry, data accuracy, and system integration
- Monitor and improve network performance, latency and communication reliability
- Support grid compliance requirements, including data availability, disturbance recording, and event reporting
- Lead incident management and resolution for SCADA/system failures impacting scheduling or grid operation
- Maintain detailed technical documentation, reports and SOPs related to SCADA and communication systems
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement substation cybersecurity controls and audits
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, cybersecurity policies, and audit requirements
