Role Overview
The Head of Project Development will spearhead all project development initiatives and provide executive oversight of PMO functions across the company's 5 GW PSP portfolio. Acting as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for state authorities, this role will fast-track approvals and inter-departmental clearances while maintaining single-point accountability for FID milestones across all projects, with a primary focus on the Kalupatti PSP.
Key Sector Exposure – Hydro & Pumped Storage
- Project coordination and management of large-scale hydroelectric (>200 MW) or Pumped Storage Projects (>500 MW).
- Stakeholder management with state authorities, regulatory bodies, and project partners.
- State-level coordination and liaison with government departments for approvals and clearances.
- Business development activities including new project identification and opportunity assessment in PSP.
- DPR coordination and multi-state project pipeline management.
- Partner and developer relationship management in the pumped storage sector.
- Project planning, progress tracking, and inter-functional alignment across design, procurement, and execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary interface with State Government departments including Energy, Water Resources, Forest, Environment, Revenue, and District Administration.
- Drive end-to-end liaisoning to secure clearances, approvals, and permits required for Hydro/PSP projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key state stakeholders, regulators, and local authorities.
- Lead fast-tracking initiatives for PSP projects (especially Kalupatti), ensuring timely resolution of approval bottlenecks.
- Identify critical path items in technical, environmental, and forest clearance processes and proactively address delays.
- Coordinate with consultants to accelerate approvals, surveys, and studies.
- Act as the central coordination node across Project, Engineering, Legal, Regulatory, Land, and Finance teams.
- Drive alignment between corporate office and site teams for seamless execution.
- Track project milestones and ensure adherence to timelines and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accountability for delivering FID for the entire 5 GW project portfolio.
- Monitor and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables from each project coordinator.
Stakeholder & Consultant Management
- Build and maintain relationships with key project stakeholders including state authorities, regulators, and financial institutions.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, presentations, and project review forums.
- Facilitate smooth coordination between internal teams and external agencies including consultants and contractors.
- Provide project status reports and risk updates to senior leadership and investment committees.
