Job Description
Monitoring & Performance Analysis Specialist will be responsible for the 24x7 monitoring, remote operation, and control of SCADA systems in coordination with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This role will involve troubleshooting and resolving SCADA connectivity issues, taking action on alerts and notifications generated from SCADA, and maintaining a log book for generation and stoppages. The specialist will also be responsible for validating the log book with the OEM's Daily Generation Report (DGR) to ensure adherence to operational standards. Analyzing repetitive or critical errors, taking necessary actions, and providing feedback on issues highlighted from the Regional Power Dispatch Centers (RPDC) will be an integral part of this role. Additionally, the specialist will be accountable for record keeping and monitoring of curtailments, raising tickets for SCADA/IT-related issues, and managing the monitoring and operation of feeders, Primary Substations (PSS), and Grid Substations (GSS)
Responsibilities:
- 24x7 monitoring of SCADA systems to ensure smooth operation and identify any anomalies or issues
- Take prompt action on alerts and notifications generated from SCADA to address any abnormalities or deviations
- Maintain a detailed log book for generation and stoppages, ensuring accurate recording of events
- Validate the log book with the OEM's Daily Generation Report (DGR) to identify any deviations and take necessary actions
- Conduct repetitive/critical errors analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective measures
- Collaborate with the RPDC and provide feedback on issues highlighted to ensure effective resolution and continuous improvement
- Maintain records and monitor curtailments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Raise tickets for SCADA/IT-related issues related to servers and connectivity, and coordinate with the appropriate teams for timely resolution
- Monitor and manage the operation of feeders, PSS, and GSS to maintain efficient power distribution
- Prepare and submit action taken reports for breakdowns exceeding 4 hours, detailing the cause, actions, and resolutions implemented
- Generate daily generation reports at the state level, providing accurate and timely information
- Maintain and update the risk tracker, conducting power curve analysis, and critical parameter analysis to assess system performance and identify potential risks
- Track equipment calibration schedules and ensure adherence to maintenance procedures
- Manage major component failures, coordinating with relevant stakeholders for timely resolutions and minimizing downtime
- Prepare daily curtailment reports, documenting curtailment events and analysing causes
- Ensure on-time communication of critical and downtime events to the relevant stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in SCADA operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with remote operation and control systems, preferably in coordination with OEMs
- Strong analytical skills to analyse repetitive/critical errors and implement corrective actions
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with the Central team, OEMs, and other stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems
- Proficiency in using SCADA software and tools
