Job Title: Senior Manager – Civil & Structural Engineering Department: Engineering – Solar Manufacturing (Ingot & Wafer) Location: Corporate Office Gurugram Reports To: Head of Engineering Experience: 10 – 12 Years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech Civil Engg; M.Tech Structural preferred
Role Purpose: Responsible for end-to-end civil and structural engineering for the Ingot & Wafer manufacturing facility — from concept and FEED through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning handover. Ensure vibration-controlled structures, precision industrial floors, heavy-equipment foundations, and campus infrastructure are delivered to global manufacturing standards, on schedule, and within budget. Key Responsibilities: 1. Structural Design – Plant Buildings - Lead structural design of manufacturing buildings: production hall (clear-span / portal frame / RCC framed), utility block, warehouse, substation, and ancillary structures. - Design structures for overhead cranes, monorails, equipment pits, trenches, and process pipe supports. - Carry out / review analysis using STAAD.Pro / ETABS / SAP2000 for static, dynamic, wind, seismic (IS 1893), and equipment-induced vibration loads. - Prepare and review structural GA drawings, reinforcement detailing, connection design, and PEB / precast specifications. 2. Foundation Engineering - Design isolated, combined, raft, and pile foundations for heavy process equipment: CZ furnaces, multi-wire saws, cranes, and utility equipment. - Design vibration-isolated machine foundations (block / frame type); carry out dynamic analysis to verify resonance-free operation. - Interpret geotechnical investigation reports (bore logs, SPT/CPT) and coordinate with geotechnical consultants. - Review equipment foundation loads from mechanical / OEM vendors; approve anchor bolt layouts and embedded plate details. - Manage differential settlement analysis for coastal / saline soil environments (Jamnagar / Mundra). 3. Industrial Floor & Slab Design - Design and specify industrial floor slabs with stringent flatness requirements — F-number system (FF50 / FL35 or better) for wire-saw alignment and AGV paths. - Specify concrete mix, reinforcement, joint layout, curing protocol, and surface finish (power-trowelled / epoxy / hardener). - Design raised flooring, equipment pits, drainage channels, and sump pits integrated within slab system. - Coordinate with process team on floor loading zones, forklift paths, and AGV route provisions. |
4. Civil Infrastructure & Site Development - Lead design of campus civil infrastructure: internal roads, storm water drainage, STP, rainwater harvesting, boundary walls, firefighting water storage, and external utilities. - Develop site grading and earthwork plan; manage cut-and-fill balance, subgrade treatment, and sub-base design. - Design RCC / precast retaining walls, culverts, inspection chambers, and underground utility corridors. - Coordinate statutory approvals: building plan sanction, fire NOC, structural clearance. Preparation of RFQ and technical specification including schedule of items and cost estimate 5. PEB & Precast Engineering - Evaluate and specify precast structural systems (columns, beams, double-T slabs, wall panels) for utility and warehouse structures. - Coordinate PEB vendor scope: prepare RFQ, TBE, review vendor design and erection drawings. - Interface PEB / precast systems with civil substructure (anchor bolts, base plate, hold down details). 6. Construction Support & Quality - Prepare and review detailed construction drawings, BBS, formwork designs, and shuttering layouts. - Review and approve contractor Method Statements, pour cards, quality records for concrete, structural steel, and masonry. - Carry out site inspections; resolve field queries/design change within agreed turnaround times. - Monitor concrete quality: slump, cube strength, cover checks, and vibration adequacy. - Prepare punch lists, pre-handover checklists, and as-built documentation.
7. Project Management & Coordination - Coordinate with mechanical, MEP, process, and EHS disciplines for integrated, clash-free plant design. - Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops. - Manage engineering deliverable schedule, track progress and flag delays proactively. Required Qualifications & Skills: - Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering; M.Tech Structural preferred. - Years of experience: 8 – 12 years in industrial / manufacturing plant civil-structural design. - Software: STAAD.Pro / ETABS, AutoCAD. - Standards: IS 456, IS 800, IS 2911, IS 1893, IS 875 (all parts), SP 34, NBC 2016. - Experience: Greenfield industrial plant (solar, semiconductor, petrochemical) as lead civil-structural engineer. - Differentiators: vibration-isolated foundation design; FF/FL floor flatness delivery; coastal / saline soil experience. - Soft Skills: Ownership, structured problem-solving, cross-functional coordination, mentoring. |
