Position Title: Mechanical Engineer – Ingot & Wafer Plant

Function: Engineering / Projects

Discipline: Mechanical Engineering

Industry: Ingot / Wafer & Advanced Manufacturing

 

Role Purpose

 

The  Design Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end engineering for solar Ingot & Wafer manufacturing facilities. The role involves close coordination with licensors, consultants, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely project  engineering in compliance with statutory and operational requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Engineering & Design Management

  • Integrated process licensor inputs into engineering strategy, project planning, and cost estimation to ensure technical and commercial feasibility.
  • Led development and review of Basic Engineering (BE) and Detailed Engineering (DE) deliverables across mechanical and utility systems.
  • Prepared and finalized:
    • Facility Utility Matrix (FUM)
    • Overall utility requirements based on OEM and process data
    • Plot Plans, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Equipment layouts and area allocations

 

 

Consultant & Vendor Management

  • Oversaw preparation of Technical Engineering Services Inquiries, including scope definition, bid documents, and technical specifications.
  • Managed technical bid evaluation, selection, and onboarding of BE & DE consultants.
  • Coordinated with OEMs, package vendors, and EPC partners for engineering alignment and delivery.

 

Team Leadership

  • Led and coordinated a multi-disciplinary engineering team of 10+ members, including internal engineers and external consultants.
  • Provided technical guidance from concept and basic design through detailed engineering for ingot & wafer manufacturing facilities.

 

Documentation & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepared and finalized documentation required for statutory and regulatory approvals, including:
    • GPCB
    • Town Planning
    • Factory License
    • PESO and other applicable authorities
  • Supported audits, inspections, and compliance reviews during construction and commissioning.

 

 

Education & Skills

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Industrial utilities (HVAC, gases, water, exhaust, cooling systems)
    • Cleanroom and controlled manufacturing environments
    • Ingot / wafer / advanced manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience in large capital projects, consultant coordination, and regulatory compliance. Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
